"Great is the power of memory that dwells in places." (from Cicero)

Wolkenstein Castle ruins

Burg Wolkenstein, today a ruin, was a fortress set in Stevia Wand rock face at the start of Langental valley (then Ciastel de Val). There used to be two castles standing here to safeguard Trai Paian long-distance path. Today's castle was built around 1200 and later taken over by Meinhard II, who elevated it to a court seat and equipped it with supplies. After 1370, the castle passed into the hands of the Wolkenstein family.

St Jakob's church

St Jakob's church is assumed to be the oldest church in the valley and is thought to have been built by the lords of Stetteneck around 1200. It was first mentioned in records in 1246. The dedication of the church to St. Jacob, guardian of travellers, is due to the fact that it lies on Troi Paian trade route. The church is equipped with local baroque sculptures, with the originals being stored in the museum at St. Ulrich.
