Ferdinand Stuflesser, Ars Sacra

The only surviving studio from the Wilhelmine period

In 1875, Ferdinand Stuflesser founded a sculpture workshop at the Petlin Hof farm, complete with a 15-metre-high workroom for altarpieces. In 1910, Ferdinand’s son Johann took over the business and expanded the market overseas.

As one of the few altarpiece workshops from the Wilhelmine era, Stuflesser’s studio succeeded in adapting after the World Wars by expanding their sphere of activity to include restoration of ecclesiastical art and objects. Today, the company is based in Pontives; it goes by the name of  “Ars Sacra 1875 Ferdinand Stuflesser,” and is managed by the fifth generation of the Stuflesser family after Ferdinand himself.
